Never Underestimate the Power of Google
Posted by: Dave | Comments (0)The Gphones are here and already major players in the industry such as Microsoft, Apple, and RIM are blowing them off. Didn’t we do this dance before?
I can understand RIM’s point of view more than Microsoft. RIM has never had to face-off against Google and although the battles of Google versus every market they have gone for is well-documented there is a difference between reading and becoming another statistic.
Microsoft on the other as traveled down this path and continues to flounder. When the Google search engine first came online Yahoo and Microsoft laughed. Are they laughing now?
Online marketing companies though the fact that Google wanted to take on PPC advertising was a farce. If the Google-Yahoo deal goes through and Google owns roughly 90% of the online advertising spots, is it still a farce?
Since this time, Google has released Chrome and like other services they have offered, Google allows the product to do the talking. 10 years from now, at the next Google anniversary will we all be using Chrome or Android powered smart phones? Time will tell. Both showcase Google’s ability of offering the customer something simple, intuitive, and often times powerful.
Chrome may not take over the browser market and the Gphone might not take over the smart phone market, but to simply disregard Google’s ability to seemingly sneak into a market then take it over is legendary. To disregard that is the highest folly a company can do.
