September 2008: Search Engine Marketing
I have received a lot of emails on the subject of SEO. So much so that I will be devoting the bulk of September to answer them all.
One of the biggest questions I get deals with turning all the book knowledge into something useable. A lot of sites say you must experiment, but they don’t say how you go about doing that. They so you will need to fool with the title tags or the keywords found in the written copy of the page, but they don’t say when you should replace it, how much you should replace, what is good and what is simply keyword stuffing.
I will use examples to show what the meanings are behind these things. Also I will do some reviews of some good software and a few sites that provide the tools I use to get better SEO marks.
Why am I qualified to do this?
Good question. Well for starters WebHostMagazine.com has more than 100 #1 key terms on Google and Yahoo and several hundred key terms on the first page. The SEO work on WebHostMagazine.com has taken a lot of trial and error and fine tuning and I have even gone of the page as far as identifying things that can be done to increase key terms.
When will the SEO stuff start?
The SEO articles will start the 1st of September and will continue till it’s end. We will begin looking over a site from the ground up. How to analyze the keyword usage on your current site and where to take it from there. Then we will look at the rules that should be considered when optimizing your site. When to trade off those huge pay off words for high placement on a dozen or so low high conversion keywords.
And we will conclude with how to maintain the site once it has “made it.”
