What is the world coming to?

I find that just when I think I have heard it all, I am proven wrong. The Albany County Supreme Court found Dell “deprived customers of technical support that they bought or were eligible for under warranty in several ways, including by requiring people to wait for very long times on the phone, repeatedly transferring their calls and frequently disconnecting their calls.”

Dell was found guilty of “fraud, false advertising, deceptive business practices and abusive debt collection practices.”

Yes, so shocking that it deserved two raised eyes! Personally I never had a problem with Dell, but then again if I do buy a new laptop (I make my own desktops) I pay for it in cash, which is probably why I only get a new laptop every 4-5 years. Also I service it myself so the only thing I am worried about is quality of product and for the most part any laptop that can survive me can survive just about anything. Though there was that one time I spilled coffee all over my laptop and had to open it up to air out and replace the video card, but that is neither here nor there.

There are some good life lessons to be learned from this. If you burn customers they will come back to haunt you no matter how big your company is. If you are going to supply a chosen support for a product you had better do so.

Damn there I go spilling coffee on my laptop again. It’s not my fault, sometimes I get the shakes if I have been without coffee for too long… like a half hour. ‘Till next time, happy hosting!
