Shameless Plugs, ISPCon 2006, and Garden Gnomes

One of the many things that is so amazing about the Internet is the ability to interact with people who are miles and miles away. The fact that we can all get on our computers and share ideas in a matter of seconds blows my mind away.

So in order to do my part to encourage more active dialogs in the hosting industry let me list a few blogs that I enjoy.

The Web Hosting Show: Mitch Keeler is an incredible commentator. Always having greet things to say about those of us in the host industry (thanks for the plug Mitch!), Mitch delivers the goods in the most enthusiastic way possible. I wish I had his abundance of energy.

SEOmoz:When it comes to any questions I have on search engine optimization I go here first. Literally tons of blogs on everything that has to do with SEO can be found here. Its a great resource. If you haven’t checked it out you should and add it to your favorites.

lunartics: Lunartics is a blog run by Lunarpages. Going along with what we do at WebHostMagazine.com Lunarpages is an advertiser, but that is not the reason to check out Lunartics. One of the good things about Lunartics is that it is a good starting point if you are just getting into looking into Web Host commentary. They have plenty of links to many of the popular commentators and I like reading what Amy Armitage has to say. So recap, good starting hub and Amy?s blogs are entertaining.

isabel says: If you look at some might consider our mutual admiration society of Web Host industry professionals and insiders I think there is no one who is more visible than Isabel Wang. If you want to get learned up on the host industry, her blog is a must read.

Ping!Zine: Keith Duncan and the staff of Ping! Zine have done a stellar job of providing a published magazine for the host industry. And I am not just saying that cause a lot of us at Web Host Magazine are on the staff. The publication is free and if you don?t want to wait on getting you hands on one they have it in pdf form ready to download or read from their site. Ok not a blog, but hey, still a good place to visit.

Ask a Ninja: Any video blog were they ask about the circumference of a moose and describe thinking like a ninja = brain exploding like Scanners (movie reference) + a spoonful of Wrath of Khan is a definite winner in my book. And also you can learn a few things like ponies love bacon.

I am still back logged as far as my work goes on writing things up for ISPcon 2006. So I apologize to 3tera, SiteKreator, Barricuda, and Jamcracker to name a few, but they are coming out and probably will be somewhat outdated, but I will be adding more info to those to keep them fresh.

Why do people use garden gnomes? Honestly. Sure they look cute and the funny red dunce cap, rosey cheeks, and general pleasant looks might be appealing. But come one. If you are using them for what they were intended, do you really thing you should be scared of ?evil spirits? who are afraid of a cute garden gnome? And if you are using them to decorate a water feature, giant stone, or even a shrubbery would probably look just as good if not better.
